Met with a different pastor today, from a Mennonite church in Harrisonburg. This guys name was Basil, and he is a really cool guy. Gave me a big hug when we met. We talked with him for an hour and a half about the wedding. He gave us lots of info and ideas. We discussed lots of different topics and about how the ceremony should be done and what we want for it.
We have four pre marital councelling sessions set up with him this week before I fly out. Should be very interesting.
I like this guy a lot, and we both want him to do our wedding.

After the wedding we had planned to do some white water rafting, but since we are not having our big to-do in Harpers Ferry anymore, that has been kiboshed. Rather, we are planning on doing some canoeing. The beautiful civil war house backs onto the Shenandoah river.
So today, we borrowed the canoe from family who owns the house and we set off down the river to Elkton.
There was not a great deal of rapids, and in some parts the river was nearly dead with movement. Overall it took an hour and a half to get to Elkton. On the way we saw quite a bit of wildlife. A large number of turtles, a baby beaver, hawk, herrons, and several small mouth bass jumped out of the river to catch bugs on the surface. It was really quite cool.
The paddling we did was next to none. I shafted the water every few minutes and joy sat up front as lookout for big rocks. It was a very easy canoe.
Joy is planning on canoeing with Kat down further to Shenandoah, past Elkton to make it longer and maybe further down it will add some excitement.
Right now, canoeing to Elkton is doable for probably any of the guests, except the elderly. Its very tame.

Today I realised I had lost my plane ticket home…
Note to self. Turn house upside down in order to find the bloody thing!

Today Joy and I saw several places where we could hold the wedding, and the best one was naturally the last one!
Since this hotel in Harpers Ferry want to charge from $1,000 to $1,500 just to stand on their lawn, we have started looking around.
Tonight we saw a beautiful 1700s civil war era house on the banks of the Shenandoah river. It was truly beaut, and I think its just the spot for the wedding.

In a flight of fancy I went and saw Harry Potter number III with Joy and Kat. It was a lot better than the first two movies (Which were quite attrocious). A lot darker, but still, its Harry Potter, so I cant say much thats overly great.
At least now I can skip the third book and start with the fourth book. But I might read it.. I dont know… It should only take a few hours at most…

Today I succumbed to the gadget king. I purchased a Tungsten E… Familiar territory straight away. It just feels so much nicer than a pocket pc device. I’ve come home, finally.
From my palm pilot professional to my beloved palm iiix and the crappy sony clie peg s320… Palm Pilots are so much nicer than pocket pc’s..
This thing is sweet. Full colour and double the resolution. Im chuffed. There is no backlight. Well I should say its 100% on and you cant turn it off, so I have the brightness turned down to nothing and its still really bright.
The only thing missing is bluetooth but I can live without it, it has IR so I can beam to my phone and whatnot anyway.

Saw the Terminal tonight with Tom Hanks and Cathy Zeta. What can I say other than I liked it?
It was a well done movie, but my main distraction was with the love interest between hanks and zeta, it was irrelevant to the whole story.
Oh and the ending was… ugh… I would have rather he been forcfully deported!! damn hollywood feel good endings. blllt.
If this had been real life, Hanks would have been fingerprinted and arrested. None of this “Dont go through those doors just wee yonder!”
Anyway, it rates in the ok range on the stu-o-meter.

Joy has been looking at dresses already, aaaargh.
I told her I dont want to know.
Is it a merangue?
Is it an old candel?
Some rolled up newspaper?
Veil?
Train?
Whatever dress she chooses I dont want to know about it or see it until the wedding day. Let some things be a surprise.

Tonight was movie night, and we went out and saw Vanhelsing in the theatre… I wont give you a review here suffice to say we suffered through it and its VERY VERY bad. So bad, I dont want to think about it. Its stupendously and horrendously BAD.
Tomorrow Joy and I are driving up to Washington DC and then to Maine to go hiking. More to report and more photos to publish later on.
